October 1, 20241 yr I have a variety of RAID pools set up in Rockstor, but I'm looking to upgrade to UnRaid. If I drop in a new SSD and install UnRaid as the new OS, will my existing RAID volumes be accessible in the new OS? Or do I need to back it all up somewhere and start fresh? Thanks!
October 1, 20241 yr I don't know much about Rockstor, but I do know if you install a drive into unraid it wants to clear the drive and start fresh. You can mount drives using the Unassigned Devices Plugin and see your drives/data, but they will not be in the protected array. From there you can move data around in and out of the array or simply leave unprotected.

The boot flash contains archives of the OS, and these are unpacked fresh into RAM at each boot. The OS runs completely in RAM. Think of it as firmware. The boot flash also contains your configuration (all settings from the webUI) so these can be reapplied at boot. None of the OS installs to your storage. As for your existing RAID volumes, unclear if Unraid could import to a pool, or even if Unassigned Devices could mount them. Maybe more specific details about those could allow better advice.
