I'm currently using shares. Is it possible that the USB drive might have gone bad? or am i to assume i'm mistakenly writing to it? Problem is that I don't see why the amount of reads and writes... Any ideas? Also, am I able to simply copy the files from that USB to a new one and it will auto boot?
March 3, 201214 yr Something wrong here. Your server's only been running just under 4 days. Doing the math, that's many more writes to the memory than the number of instruction cycles that your processor could have executed in that time, so to have performed that number of writes is an impossibility. I'd suspect something else like a RAM problem. Have you tried running MEMTEST from the USB stick to check that the hardware is basically stable?
March 3, 201214 yr Author No I have not. It's constantly on the rise as well.... How would I go about running this test?
March 3, 201214 yr reboot your server and select memtest86 instead of unraid at the boot screen. I agree with S80_UK that something doesn't sound right.
March 3, 201214 yr Author Wow this is embarrassing... Wify decided she needed a USB stick. Guess which one she decided to take...
March 3, 201214 yr Well to answer your previous question regarding a new flash drive, you can follow the same steps you used to make your current unraid flash drive with a new one, simply copying the files from the old drive to the new one. Keep in mind this will only work this way with the basic(free) unraid, if you pay for a pro or plus license you would have to contact Lime Tech for a new key for the new drive. And maybe you should buy a internal usb adapter(usb header to female adapter) and put the usb stick on the inside of the case. Many unRAID users do this, primarily to stop the flash drive from getting bumped/broke or in this case, acquired by wifey!
March 3, 201214 yr Wow this is embarrassing... Wify decided she needed a USB stick. Guess which one she decided to take... Brilliant! (ROTFL, etc) I knew there was a reason that my stick is mounted inside the case which needs a screwdriver to open it...
March 3, 201214 yr I thought I did it to protect the flash drive from my two kids(4 years and one year), but apparently it doubles as wife protection too.
