November 19, 20241 yr Community Expert the error: usualy means a dead USB. when USB die you are no longer able to write to them but can still read form them. It is time to replace that USB drive. WebUI > Main > Flash download backup. If you cant get a flashdrive backup see if you ca cd /boot/ copy everything in here to a location to put on the new drive. otherwise contact unriad support on usb license transfers and assistance.
November 19, 20241 yr Author some strange i shutdown the server and tried a different USB port and its working with no error but your right since i have it up and running time to run a full backup just in case in fails at any point
November 19, 20241 yr Community Expert Solution Cool, glad that it is working in another port. Yes 1-3 month is a general rule of thum. I woul recomend getting a backup sonner then latter given some earlier errors. the forum has seen strange ness with usb3.0 ports its best to run unraid usb on usb2.0 ports. I sometimes get a dongle and throw it in the case to the motherbaords usb2.0 headers. https://a.co/d/8YHO8TB
November 19, 20241 yr Author Yea me to and the thing i am using USB 3.0 ports i thought they just would be faster for the read/write. I didn't know unRAID ran better on USB 2.0. I should switch to the USB2 on my next reboot. And the dongle straight to the mobo does some like a sweet idea thanks. I also heard of people using USB DOMs. Its supposed to be really reliable just not the greatest write speeds but unRAID only needs USB2. Edited November 19, 20241 yr by poniz
