Split Level Setting Question

Here is my current folder structure:

Media

   -Movies

      -<individual movie folders>

   -TV Shows

      -<individual tv show folders>

I currently have my Movies on Disks 1-3 and my TV Shows on Disks 4-7

What should my Split Level setting be on the Media share in Unraid to ensure that all new Movies get put on Disks 1-3 and all TV Shows get put on Disks 4-7 AND make sure that top level individual TV show folders don't get split up (I like to have entire individual TV shows on the same disk)?

Split Level 2 I believe is what you want for your media share.

"Automatically only split the top two levels as required"

The problem is there's only one share: "Media" that has both the Movies and TV Shows folders underneath it. As far as I can tell I can only set the Split Level for the top level share?

Im sorry, I mis-spoke, you will set level 2 split for your media share.

However, because of the allocation method choices, you cannot really pick which specific disks are used UNLESS you create two separate shares one for movies and one for tv shows. Only then can you select which disks each share can occupy.

You can also use the unbalanced plugin and manually "gather" the files to the correct disks periodically.

I just finished doing some testing and actually figured out the answer. Choosing "Manual: do not automatically split directories" does exactly what I want it to do. It puts all new movies on disks 1-3 since those are the only disks with the Movies folder and it puts TV Shows on disks 4-7 since those are the only disks with the TV Shows folder, and it also puts any new season folders inside individual TV shows on the same disk they're already on!
