December 5, 20241 yr Hi, just upgraded my server and want to move some things around. I currently have 3x2TB ssds and added 2x10TB hhds in my array. No parity. I plan to use the hdd for stuff I can live without (movies, tvs, isos). The SSDs will be used for photos, appdata en other "important" files. I moved the files for the HDD to the HDD, no problem. But, how do I move the SSD (or HDD) to a pool so I can mirror/parity/backup the SSD easily? I am afraid of losing stuff if I hit "new config" and move the SSD to a pool. Thanks in advance!! EDIT: for some more information; 2 of the SSD's are currently empty and 1 of the HDD is empty. Edited December 5, 20241 yr by Rikkert
December 5, 20241 yr Community Expert If the SSDs are empty, you can do a new config and move them to a pool, anything left assigned to the array will keep working as before.
December 5, 20241 yr Author Okay thank you. I understood new config as also removing data from the disks, but it only lets you move disks around?

New Config allows disks in the main array to be moved around. Note, however that if you want to put the SSDs into a multi-device pool their contents will be wiped so should first be copied elsewhere and copied back afterwards.
December 5, 20241 yr Author Will copy files from SSD to HDD. Do a new config, move SSDs to the pool and move the files from HDD to SSD. Thanks for clarificarion and help!
