Unraid server disappeared from my network during a disk rebuild. Am I safe to power off the server through the IPMI GUI?

Featured Replies

I've been having an issue with my Unraid server randomly disappearing from my network, after upgrading to 6.12.14. I've also been having read error issues with 1 of my disks. I noticed that one of my drives was a little loose in the hotswap socket. After re-seating it, I proceeded to rebuild the disk. 30 minutes into the disk rebuild, my Unraid server disappeared from my network and now I cannot access it at all. I have tried different ethernet cables and ethernet ports, but nothing. In my network dashboard app on my phone, all I see is my Asrock motherboard. I can log into the GUI through IPMI and see that the server is powered on. I also have options to power cycle or power off my server (orderly shutdown.)

I already backed up my flash drive's data onto a new one. I read this may be the issue with Unraid not showing up on my network. I have not installed the new flash drive yet however.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I assume the disk rebuild is still happening in the background after losing access to my Unraid server? It gave me an ETA of ~10 days when I started it (14TB drive.) I'm reluctant to shut down the server through IPMI, since I'm not sure if it will interrupt the rebuild and possibly harm the disk.

My Unraid mobo is a ASRock E3C224D4I-14S. Any help is appreciated.

Since I can't access my server to download the diagnostics, I will order a D-Sub cable to try to get a video signal to my monitor.

I should also add that pinging my server fails. Also, Asrock's IPMI java console fails to launch.

Will update this thread if I can get a video signal.

Please post the diagnostics.

I was not able to get a signal to the monitor. My Unraid server reset and I was able to login for the time being. Attached are the diagnostics after the reset.

The disk rebuild was cancelled but the drive is still in emulated mode. I don't want to re-initiate the disk rebuild until my network issue is fixed, just in case my server disappears again. Should I migrate my flash drive data onto a new one? Please advise.

I have also attached images of my Unraid network settings, for reference.

Do you suspect there's a flash drive problem?

I'm not entirely sure. I'm trying to find other users with a similar issue of Unraid not showing up and randomly disappearing from the network. Similar threads conclude it could be a flash drive problem. I never had this issue before installing 6.12.14, but it could just be a coincidence. Whenever I power cycle or cold boot the server, there's a 50/50 chance I'm able to connect. I will try a new flash drive.

Flash drive issues are usually logged, you can enable the syslog server and post that after an event.
