December 11, 20241 yr Hello Friends! One of my drives errored out today and, looking at the logs, it appears that it was around a power-retract event. Short SMART test passed and no SMART errors on the dashboard but some suspect things in the drive SMART logs (attached). Looking for advice on where to start - checking cables, change out PSU vs drive, or is there something I'm missing? December 11, 20241 yr Community Expert Doesn't look like a disk problem, at least not media related, could be a mechanical issue, but first try swapping cables (both power and SATA) with a different disk and see where the problem follows
December 12, 20241 yr Author Thank you two for the replies. That was my inclination as well, just wanted to see if I was missing anything in the logs. Will do some re-wiring and rebuild with the same disk for now. Will update with any additional events.
January 10, 20251 yr Author As a follow-up, this one disk eventually completely failed and no longer is recognized on multiple devices, despite spinning up. Removed splitters and re-did all the cabling. May have been the power, may have been bad luck. Thanks again.
