December 12, 20241 yr Hi everyone, I've been having constant issues with my server for a while now and can't get it to run stable. I experience constant hangs and crashes. For example, I tried to move some files via GUI from one share to another and it got stuck on "Running..." and is now giving this: I've also been getting a variety of errors in my logs. I've tried swapping USB sticks, reseating CPU, ran memtest with pass, and cutting down on plugins. All help is greatly appreciated! smallbrick-diagnostics-20241125-1645.zip
December 13, 20241 yr That error means something is using disk2, for the crashing issues, enable the syslog server and post that after a crash.

Got this as I was testing out Immich running ML jobs and stopped it. Does this mean my CPU is dying? I have an Intel 13500T with no overclock. smallbrick-syslog-20241214-0112.zip
December 14, 20241 yr Start by running memtest, or since memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.
December 15, 20241 yr Almost ready to throw in the towel on Unraid. I’ve been running Unraid for about 5 years now and generally very pleased with it until I updated to 6.12.12 that crashed my server and it hasn’t run since. I’ve completely erased the server, replaced every component 3 times. (Except the case). Upgraded to the latest version, tried unraid 7 beta 2,3, and 4; tried downgrading back to 6.12.11 but it will not remain stable for more than a few minutes! HOW??? It was working great until that os upgrade and once again no part of that system exist except the case and 2 of the 8 drives. Since I’m starting completely over I’m really start to look at alternatives. When I boot the computer with windows it runs fine but there is something going on that is costing me 100’s of hrs in pain and headache not to mention more than $1k in upgrades that I really didn’t want to spend. I was hoping that maybe UNraid 7 might help address whatever is going on but it doesn’t seem to be a release date known (if that even helps). I don’t know what to do..

Memtest initially passed with 16 runs but the segfault kept happening so I swapped to a new 32GB kit. Works flawlessly now without XMP. However, running into this now: And going to a specific file, for example, shows a strip of artifacting: These are RAW files from camera. What should I do?
December 23, 20241 yr Solution If the server was used with bad RAM, some files may be corrupt, you would need to delete or restore them from a backup.

Looks like the server is throwing some more errors, is this still RAM related? smallbrick-diagnostics-20241224-0233.zip smallbrick-syslog-20241224-0232.zip
December 24, 20241 yr If you mean this call trace: Dec 23 00:16:32 SMALLBRICK kernel: Can't encode file handler for inotify: 255 You can ignore, all users get them currently once per boot, and it's harmless
