1 x Reported uncorrect on Parity. Concerned. + More

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a multi-part support question. The major one being the first about a Parity attribute.

If could gather some direction/guidance on how best to approach this that would be awesome.

Error on Parity

My Parity drive is showing a single Reported uncorrect on my Parity attributes; a raw value of 1. I did a SMART self-test when I first noticed the issue back in August of this year (2024). I'm pretty sure I did both a short and extended, as I have a smart and diagnostics zip. The test resulted in a Completed without error status, so I did not think much more of it. I have not seen anything further either in attributes or dashboard notifications in regards to this Reported uncorrect.

What is the consensus? Is this something of serious concern? (Next question may void this answer)

Installing new Parity

I'm also asking this now as I do have a new Parity drive to install (12TB > 16TB) once I scan it. Will this Reported uncorrect affect the transition in any way to the new HDD?

Using the Reported uncorrect drive in my array

Once removed from Parity would it be okay to use this same drive as further storage in my array?

Screenshots uploaded. Happy to attach additional files if necessary.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

If the extended SMART test passed and/or no errors during the last parity checks, you can ignore that.

If you want to replace parity is just a standard replacement, nothing special you need to do.

Thank you @JorgeB. I did not expect a solid response so quickly.

You've put me at ease too. Much appreciated.

Not sure if the picture of your array is old from August or not.  If your drive is passing extended SMART and has been stable.  You can hit the "CLEAR STATS" button on the main tab to flip your drive back to showing healthy (thumbs up).  That way you will get the thumbs down again if the problem happens again.

@Gragorg I did actually mean to ask this. It's bugged me for ages. That picture was taken today so thank you for noticing and pointing that out. I'll keep in mind for next time too.

Since the parity passed the extended SMART check, is it safe to re-enter it into the array as a storage drive?

Should be.
