Disk speed not 6Gb/s

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a few drives which are showing up as set to 3Gb/s - but capable of full 6Gb/s (two are HDD, one is a SDD in my cache pool).

I reseated the SATA cables, and tried replacing the SATA cables all together - no luck.

They are all using SATA ports on the MB not a card - and other devices on the MB SATA ports are showing correctly as current 6GB/s.

any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

I have searched / read and also see that it wont make any difference to performance - except possibly the one SSD running at 3GB... but still I don't like things not working correctly...

thanks

Which ports are you using on the motherboard?  Only two of them support 6gbs

that must be it then - never thought about that (only 2 being 6..).

thanks for the help on this ..

now on to trying to figure out why the server keeps locking up requiring hard shutdown.  As you can see its a ~12 year old server that has been running very well until recently so I think something is failing.

thanks

Run memtest from the boot menu for at least a couple of passes
