January 12, 20251 yr Hi All, Been using unraid for many years, on version 6.12.3 currently. Stable. I have a few shares setup know my space is getting low however lets compare the 2 shares setup here "HD Movies" and "Consoles" pictures attached. The only difference I see between these 2 share settings is that HD movies writes to cache first and console writes to array directly. When I write to console share I get an error that I have no space left, I do not get the same error when writing to the HD Movies share. Settings attached. Any ideas? or leads? Thanks in advance

It is always a good idea when asking questions to supply your diagnostics so we can see details of your system, how you have things configured, and the current syslog.

January 12, 20251 yr Community Expert The two shares have different values for the Minimum Free Space setting. None of your drives have enough for the value set in what I think is the Consoles Share.

Not sure when it gets displayed as a percentage. when I look at the diagnostics then for the share I think is Console (not certain as names are anonymised) I see shareFloor="390511081" which is more than the free space on any drive, whereas for HD Movies it is shareFloor="48838655"

BTW across all my shares this is set to 10%, i never changed this might bean inherent oddity with this version of unraid?

If you click on the text for that value you are shown how you can use friendlier values. 3 minutes ago, majorspawn said: BTW across all my shares this is set to 10%, i never changed this might bean inherent oddity with this version of unraid? For ages the default has been 0 which has caused issues for many users. The latest releases change a value of 0 to something based on disk sizes, but not sure of the algorithm used. Not sure why they both say 10% when the underlying value is different - I guess this might be a bug?

I changed it to "1838655" can write to the share now, after I changed it, it automatically changed the value in the box to "1,8GB" no longer a percentage expression very weird. I've done that to all the shares now. I think we can call this resolved other that a potential bug, providing its back to write state I am ok. Again, thanks very much for you chiming in and the assist.

The value should be larger than the biggest file you expect to write to the share. BTW: You have a lot of .cfg file in the config/shares' folder on the flash drive for shares that no longer exist. It could be worth deleting the extras to make it easier to analyse any future diagnostics.
