January 22, 20251 yr I've just completed a parity swap with a new drive and the parity drive has been put into the slot of the old smaller disk that was being emulated. I started data rebuild and see the the disk is reported as unmountable? Is this normal ,should I leave it to rebuild? I'm not sure how to proceed so as this is my first Unraid server and I'm learning as I go but keep encountering issues. tower-diagnostics-20250122-0819.zip
January 22, 20251 yr Community Expert Was it showing as unmountable before starting the rebuild? If so then it will still show as unmountable after the rebuild as all the rebuild does is make the physical drive match the emulated one. To clear the unmountable state you will need to run a check filesystem on the drive as described here in the online documentation. We normally recommend doing it before the rebuild on the emulated drive in case that recovery process does not work but that is not a requirement. Assuming the old drive has not failed then keep it intact just in case the unmountable status cannot be cleared cleanly.
January 22, 20251 yr Author Thanks, I'm checking the file system now but a bit unsure if I'm doing it correctly. I mounted the drive in maintenance mode and started xfs-repair without options, currently still saying: Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... bad primary superblock - bad magic number !!! attempting to find secondary superblock............................................................ That's been like like for ages. Just looking for reassurance I'm doing things right ?

Disc failed and can't be read unfortunately. I have all the data on the array backed up elsewhere but was hoping I didn't have to do a complete re-install. What would be the best way forward i.e how do I get rid the of unmountable disc status and start the array and can I then copy over from backups anything that's missing on the array. Is that possible?
January 23, 20251 yr Author Can anybody please help with this problem. I'm completely lost in how to fix this issue . I've read so many posts I'm completely confused. How do I remove this unmountable drive so i can add a new drive in its place. Whatever I've tried each time I mount it it comes back as unmountable device contents emulated. I'm at the stage where I want to start all over if I cant get rid of this emulated status and rebuild everything but obviously my preference will be to keep the data on all other drives if possible. Can anyone please recommend how I should proceed.
