Inconsistent Parity Sync speed

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am getting inconsistent Parity Sync speed, ranging from 200MB/s to 1.5MB/s

Initially, the problem seems to be with the HBA overheating/errors, so I placed 2x 20mm fans to cool it (& turned on the air conditioner), and the speed returned to the more expected 200-100MB/s.

However the speed on fluctuates, hovering around 1.5MB/s for several hours.

Please take a look at the diagnostics attached and help me find the problem. I'm not sure if it is the HBA or the certified drives I added to the system that is the issue.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

P.S.

System is a HL15 case with the 45drives black plane and Sata HDDs, connected to a lenovo 430-16i HBA, then a i9900k system.

I checked if the HBA has been seated properly, and the connectors are locked, and using a full electrical 16x slot (aware the HBA is only 8x)

No errors logged, run the diskspeed docker test to see if all disks are performing normally, also run the controller tests.

Thank you, followed your suggestion and ran several diskspeed test.

finally found the issue to be one of the HDD behaving oddly, where it would slow down to around 5MB/s for certain sectors. There were no smart errors, and it could perform around 200MB/s for most quick test. Only the longer test revealed the issue.
