[Solved] Old regular problem that i would want to address

Featured Replies

Hi there, since the beggining of my unraid journey, some 5 years ago maybe, i have a regular problem : it freeze
(my main VM freeze, no response anymore. No acces to unraid WebGUI and no response to ping)

Sometimes in just 1 or 2 days, sometimes it can take a month or two

I was motivated to activate syslog this time and it happened again yesterday at approx 18:40
I'm attaching a diagnostic file, in the Log folder, there's a syslog_full file from my USB key added to the archive

This is a really annoying problem that I should have fixed a long time ago, but i was too lazy and too busy :/

Optionnaly, i have a second problem due to this regular freeze, every time i restart, my cache drives now tell me they're unmoutable
Usually i just unassign them and start/stop array + reassign, but this time, they're not cooperative anymore :/

(i mounted them and made a copy of the content with a cp -a cmd)
I tried a btrfs check and it tells me that everything's ok (oh really ?)
Could i "just" format them and copy back the files ?

Thank you very much ! :)

Unfortunately, there's nothing relevant logged, this can also be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one, including the individual docker containers.

Thanks JorgeB!
I was afraid of this kind of response :/
I'm going to look if there is a tool to send me logs from the hardware.

Regarding my optional question, could you tell me if it will work like that please? ^^

(the key point is "is cp -a" enough ? I don't remember what cmd i used some years ago to make a backup of my cache)
I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to upgrade the FS to BTRFS Encrypted (actually simple BTRFS)

Thanks again :)

Missed that question, first I would recommend upgrading to latest, since you are on an ancient version, then post the output from

btrfs fi show

Of course, it's on my to-do list as soon as possible but I'm dreading this update, like many of those who have the same version as me that we come across on many forums :)

This said, it can be now or never, since my dockers don't work anymore currently

I'll be doing that probably this Saturday and post the output you asked :)

Thank you JorgeB ;)

Hi JorgeB !

Sorry to have you wait, i did an upgrade to 6.12.10 (choice was this one or the 7.0.0, but it's too soon for this one and for me ;) )
And i must say, if it stay like this, it's a wonder ^^

My server never booted this fast, without network error, it mounted the cache pool no problem and all is running ok ^^
Marvellous, thank you ;)

I'll keep an eye on it and will do an upgrade to 6.12.15 when ok

Thank you again :)
