Error on boot drive

Overnight, I got this error on /dev/sda which is my boot USB.  

Jan 26 04:30:21 Tower kernel: critical medium error, dev sda, sector 776384 op 0x0:(READ) flags 0x84700 phys_seg 16 prio class 2
 

Is my boot drive beginning to fail?  I've been using it for quite a few years now without issue.

    You can try backup and reformatting first, but if the errors persist you should replace it.

    Thanks.  I've purchased a new USB and will attempt the changeover tonight.
