Adding disk to cache

Hi, I'm not sure what I'm missing.

I have existing 2 disk zfs SSD cache both drives are 2T. I want to add a 3rd drive, NVE 2T, I can see it as a unassigned drive. When I try and add the drive and restart the array I get a

cache - new device too small

 

I'm just trying to expand the cache pool, what am I doing wrong?

You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread. It is always a good idea when asking questions to supply your diagnostics so we can see details of your system, how you have things configured, and the current syslog.

First, note that adding another device to a zfs mirror, will create a 3 way mirror, not expand the pool, for that, you would need 2 additional devices, also,

This indicates the new device is smaller than the current ones.

Sooo I can only add to the zfs pool in groups of two? The size area I assume is because the T2 is smaller then the pool size...

For zfs mirrors yes.

No, it's smaller than the exisitng pool devices:
