Random freezes help

Featured Replies

Hi!

After working fine for several years, my Unraid server is having random freezes (it just stops responding and I have to reboot the computer with the physical button).

The problem seems random. It sometimes happens three or four times on the same day and sometimes works for a few days without showing up.

I enabled the syslog server to check if any errors are there, but I don't see anything.

I had a similar problem a few years ago with a bad memory stick, but I've run Memtest for several hours without any errors.

Fix Common Problems says "Machine Check Events detected on your server" but I've been unable to identify the problem in the log.

I'll be grateful if someone can have a look at the diagnostics and give me some guidance to identify the source of the freezes.

Thanks!!!!

Hi!
Thanks for the response.
I've updated the settings in the BIOS following that documentation.
The computer has been working for a few hours without problems, but I will report back in a few days to confirm if the problem is solved.

Hi!

No freezes so far, setting "Power Supply Idle Control" to "typical current idle" in the BIOS did the trick...

Thanks!!
