February 23, 20251 yr I've noticed that the Docker update process is very slow after updating to v7. Initiating the "Check for updates" process on the Docker page takes several minutes, when it used to take 10 seconds. The individual container updates are very slow. The download process is slow, a 30mb download may take a minute or two. I did a speed test with the system, internet connectivity is fine and containers are running as expected. Any thoughts on what might be causing it? Many thanks! [edit] I checked the usual things. Installed docker speed check app (all good). Checked that all appdata and system files were located on SSD cache (confirmed). I did recently switch network configuration from standard to link aggregation. But I have a unifi switch that supports it and it is configured correctly and appears to be performing as expected with network tests. unraid-diagnostics-20250223-1200.zip Edited February 23, 20251 yr by Kboogie

February 25, 20251 yr I've been on U7 since Beta1 and only in the last couple of days has it slowed down, but not all the time, some containers will update at full speed but then one will slow down and take 15 minutes. So I don't think it's directly a U7 issue. I faintly remember having a similar issue way back maybe 5 years ago and it turned out to be a DNS issue.

Disabled link aggregation and the performance returned to normal for docker. But doing speed test on the aggregated and non-aggregated configurations show as the same. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot the aggregation configuration?

February 26, 20251 yr Author I tested every Bond option from simple to more complex and they seemed to work as network traffic was confirmed, but I had the slow docker update issue in all cases and I'm assuming there were larger issues at play. At this point I'm going to give up on it, as the juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze. Thanks for the advice.

May 8, 20251 yr Hello! I have the same problem. Before, my Docker would fail to update quickly. Now, it's only slow when updating Docker. My network is all 10G and Docker is in 2 NVME CACHES. I've seen several posts here from people complaining, some talk about DNS, others talk about Arrays. But there's no clear solution to the problem.... I would say it's a "CAKE RECIPE"
May 8, 20251 yr Community Expert Also depends where you download from and when. Can be a hit or miss sometimes. I recently had to download a 1 GB blob from ghcr.io a few second Operation turned into an adventure with 5 Mbit/s (also good to mention that dockerhub changed their rates recently so who knows what they're doing, I moved most of my stuff away from them anyway) Edited May 8, 20251 yr by Mainfrezzer
