February 24, 20251 yr Hi everyone, I ask for your help because I'm going crazy with a serious unraid instability problem. I recently changed hardware and went from an old phenom II 9650 (with a consumption of about 80w at rest) to an I7 8700 (which at rest consumes 35w). The problem is that now the new system continuously reboots or even shuts down. Half the time it does a clean shutdown, other times it reboots immediately. I checked everything, I disconnected too many peripherals, uninstalled rarely used plugins and docker but the system is unstable. Changed IPvlan/MacVlan, read documentation and advice. I checked the RAM and everything is ok, the temperatures are ok. I just need to try changing the power supply. The USB stick is the same as the previous system (which I'm thinking of going back to even if I lose in consumption and performance). I attach the disgnostics file and a (long) copy of the syslog for anyone who wants to help me understand something. Thanks nas2-diagnostics-20250224-1939.zip syslog-192.168.1.235.log.zip

Server rebooting by itself is almost always a hardware problem, but this is not expected: 5 minutes ago, sstrix said: Half the time it does a clean shutdown Do you mean it starts a system shutdown?
February 24, 20251 yr Author yes sometimes I found the pc turned off with a clean shtudown, other times it restarted in a brutal way. I disabled the shutdown from the UPS in case of low battery level. I even changed UPS, disabled NUT or disconnected the usb cable. It doesn't seem to be the UPS the problem.

The purpose of UPS isn't to allow you to run on battery. The purpose of UPS is to allow you to continue to run through a very brief outage, and to allow a clean shutdown if the outage is more than very brief.

February 24, 20251 yr Author Hi, thanks for the reply. I use the UPS as intended and my fear is that the UPS board went crazy and sent the Halt signal randomly. Back to the power button... changing PC I got an old case and the idea of the malfunctioning power button is interesting. I will try to disconnect the pins from the motherboard to verify that that is the problem. I will let you know. For now thanks for the advice
March 4, 20251 yr Author I hope I'm not exulting too soon, but it seems that once the power pins were disconnected from the motherboard the system became stable. The hypothesis of the faulty power button that you suggested to me is increasingly likely. At the moment the system has been online continuously for 3 days, I'm waiting to get to 10 to feel out of danger and declare the problem as hardware. Thanks to everyone for the help
