HDD overheating

Featured Replies

I’m currently using latest version of Unraid 7.0.1

this is a new built I had computer parts laying around and bought some new parts to complete the server.

I just built this server, for some reason hard drive are overheating reaching temp of 58C, I constantly getting alerts. Case is well ventilated and is open at the moment for testing.

I’m using the following components:

ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX Z370-E

Hard drive set up 3 10TB Western Digital.

Intel® Core™ i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz

WDC_WUS721010ALE6L4_VH1JP2JM - 10 TB X connected via SATA

Thermaltake SMART 600W ATX 12V V2.3/EPS 12V 80 Plus Certified Active PFC Power Supply PS-SPD-0600NPCWUS-W

If someone could guide me how to resolve this issue I would be really grateful

You need airflow over the drives.

Fans in the case should be set up so that air is sucked into the case from the front of the drives flowing over the drives to the interior of the case and out the rear.  This generally means that all fans should be blowing air out of the case.

Thanks I will rearrange front fans one of them is not going over the HDD cage. I will try better fans also the ones I bought kind of cheap 😅
