Just purchased a Popcorn Hour and was curious if anyone is currently using unRAID and a Popcorn Hour to stream video files, specifically 720p and 1080p contect? I have read on the Popcorn Hour forums that unRAID directly related to SAMBA is not fast enough to stream HD material and they switched to FreeNAS which addressed their problem. I would hate to switch to FreeNAS since I am very satisfied with unRAID. Thanks for the input.

PH will also use uPNP, which is simply a web server.  Install Apache, SlimServer, or other package on unRAID and PH will work like a dream.

 

I can stream two simultaneous 1080p streams at the same time from unRAID this way with no glitches.

Is there any documentation for this? I have 3 squeezeboxes in the house and I read where you can not run slimserver on the unRAID OS? I would love to run slimserver on the unRAID OS as well.

It's not that you can not run it, it's that there are a series of pre-reqs to run it.

When the final comes out I'll revisit installing it. I don't want to be working on a moving target.

I'd love to hear any further feedback of someone who has this combination (unRAID + Popcorn Hour) working - or who could not get it to work, either way I'd love to hear your experiences.

Although I no longer have a PH, I had one working fine with my unRAID, using Apache and OpenShowCenter.  I'm currently using several Pinnacle ShowCenters that are similar, as all use uPNP via Apache on the unRAID box.
