I hope anyone can help on this one.

 

I have Z270 gaming m5 motherboard and it come standard with 6 Sata ports.

I have added 6 Drives to it and want one extra.

On the old computer it pick up the Expansion card no problem but on the new machine it does not pick up the card at all.

 

Not sure if anyone have ever seen this.

I must say the card is old but i know if is working fine.

 

IF anyone have any advice would appriicate it alot.

I am going to go and buy a new card and then see if that makes diffrence.

This card have been running in my old Computer for more that 7 Years might be Time to replace.

We are having a pulbic holiday in Our Country so most things are closed.

Want to go tomorrow and see if i can get the card.

The one thing is that I life in South Africa and some of those Cards you will never see here.

So i will keep on looking to see if i can get one here.

That link I gave isn't really about specific brands. Lots of different brands will use those chipsets. Just look for a brand with those chipsets.

If you do get issues, please post diagnostics. Most of the time the issue isn't with the card, but because many older consuimer boards like the M270 only supports graphics cards, and not any other cards, which means you'd have to use the x1 slots for those. Seeing the manual, that is probably the case here.

 

If it does accept other cards in the big slots, the E6 one is only x4, depending on what card you have, it may not accept that either, although most sata-cards are only x1 or x2.

 

Also, if you're using the M.2 slots for a sata-card, you can't use sata and M.2 at the same time for many combinations, see the manual.

Thanks that is making more sence . I will need to get a card that is going to work in my X1 slot.

I have no m.2 drive so atleast that is out of the way.

 

I will need to shop around for a Card here in my Country.

Will keep you updated on my progress.
