Unraid cache drive swap

Featured Replies

Hey

My new unraid NAS uses a gen 3 nvme and my old NAS used a gen2 nvme. I was using the nvme as a cache pool.

So i need to use the gen3 nvme as the cache pool. I didnt backup the gen2 nvme. If i just install the new gen3 nvme as a cache pool will this cause any issues with unraid?

Thanks

Not clear what the question is. PCIe gen is irrelevant to anything, unraid will take either... obviously if you're not transferring the data that was on the old drive to the new then anything that was on it is lost.

oh my new nas won't recognise my old nvme, i reckoned it was because of the gen difference

KINGSTON_SM2280S3G2120G is my old nvme and AOOSTAR WTR PRO intel n150 is my new system

So i assumed the hardware wasn't compatible ?

It is not NVMe, it's a SATA m.2 SSD.

The spec sheets for that AOOSTAR box i can find are absolute garbage so it's not clear whether the slot supports both NVMe and SATA or only NVMe.

Okay, i left the manufacturers ssd at work, ill grab it tomorrow and if it recognises it, ill just use that instead as my cache drive
