May 6, 20251 yr Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with Almalinux vm not starting after upgrading to 7.1.0? It was working fine under 7.0. It brings up the normal selection screen and then hangs after any of the options are selected.
May 6, 20251 yr Author It appears that there is currently no resolution. I guess I will go back to 7.0 and wait for this issue to get resolved. Thank you for the link to the other topic.
May 7, 20251 yr Author Well, reverting back to 7.0.1 did no good at all. Looks like I am screwed for running any linux vm's! Thanks a lot Unraid!
May 7, 20251 yr I have the same problem. Seems like all modern Red Hat family distros are having this issue. The only vm I have been able to start is a Debian 12 machine. I don't know how to make a good bug report so I figured I'd drop a note here in case Unraid is monitoring the forum.

I would agree with you if it wasn't working just fine minutes before doing the upgrade. Now I can create any Linux vm's after going back to 7.0.1. Something didn't revert the way it should have is what I am thinking. Time to reinstall completely on a different machine to prove my point.

The problem is caused by an issue with the UEFI firmware, reverting should always fix it, since it will use the old firmware.
May 7, 20251 yr Community Expert P.S: you can also update the package, see here, if that was the only issue, the VM should then work with 7.1
