Multi Pools - Primary, Secondary Possible?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a multi pool setup with the following on unraid 7..0.1:

Cache 2x1tb nvme

data 8x8tb nvme

applications 2x4gb nvme

array: 4x 22tb spinning rust

Setting following shares works:

share1   primary pool cache, secondary array     all is ok, no issues and it cache and run mover fine

share2  primary pool cache, secondary pool data      gives error about how share2 exists on both pool cache and data (fix common problems)

is it possible to run Share2 like this? as my rational is I want to burn out the cache drives first from excessive writes, and then move (via mover tuner) the final result after xx number of days to the more expensive data arrary so the write count remains low.

Cheers

Yes.

What am I doing wrong? As when I set share2 to pool cache and secondary pool data I get the error, and the folder share2 will only appear on data despite writes happening and the free size set to a level that allows it to write to cache (and having free space)

Fix Common Problems: Warning: Share Share2 set to use pool cache, but files / folders exist on the data pool

thanks

To get files moved from the array by mover you need Primary:data, Secondary:array and mover direction array->data.  After the moving of those files is complete you can set the primary and secondary as you want.

the alternative is to move the files manually from the array to the ‘data’ pool.
