Woke up with a empty appdata folder, any idea why?

Featured Replies

I'm not sure why this happened but I noticed today that all my app data folder has all the data deleted from it except the folders. The dockers are still installed and will start but they are all broken in one way or another. The appdata folder still exists with all the underlying docker container folders but they are all now empty.

Only thing I can think of that I changed the last couple days is that I removed an unused pool but the appdata is on a separate array so I don't think that would have done anything and I also did the new updates.

Maybe it was part there, do you still have that pool device instact?

I tried that but no luck. I'm not sure what happened if that diagnostic doesn't show it.

With the device missing, there's no way to see if part of appdata was there.

Just curious but I just saw there is a new update stating that they are fixing a potential data-loss issue that was in 7.1.0 and 7.1.1. Do you think this might have been what caused my data being deleted?

Did you use the empty disk mover function with 7.1.0 or 7.1.1?

I don't believe so but I can't be certain. I just remember deleting the one unused pool. Didn't know if this might have triggered something because there was nothing on that pool which might have been seen as an empty disk.

It should be easy to remember, it could have only been since 7.1.0 was released, less than a week ago, and this only applies if you removed an array drive since, i.e., if you shrunk the array to remove a disk, it doesn't apply to pools.
