File / Tree Structure in Unraid

Featured Replies

looking for the file structure/tree in Unraid. I had files visible, but lost connection and now I can't remember what folders I had created through Windows 11.

The user shares are simply the combined top level folders on array and pools.

Don't know if that answers your question since it's not clear what your question is.

I'm new to Unraid, so I have a lot to take in....

The problem I have is this:  I got the array started on my NAS... I went to Windows to map the drive... created folders in it, transferred several files to it... now, not sure what I did, but the shares were deleted. The files I transferred do not show up in windows after my error. I do see that the data is still on my array tho'...Screenshot_15-5-2025_172732_192_168.1_174.jpeg.19422aa7a7323c367ba67820f5928909.jpeg

Documentation is linked at the bottom of every forum page, and from the 'Manual' link in the lower right corner of your Unraid webUI.

Diagnostics shows this for your user shares:

appdata shareUseCache="only" # Share exists on cache
m---a shareUseCache="no" # Share exists on disk1
p--x shareUseCache="no" # Share exists on disk1
p-------a shareUseCache="only" # Share does not exist

Not sure why you have an appdata user share, when you don't have a system user share. According to your docker.cfg, docker.img should be in system user share. appdata and system would be created when you enable docker, but it is currently disabled.

I am guessing those other shares (anonymized) are named media and plex. Don't know about that last one. It doesn't exist because it has been removed, but its .cfg file is still there. You can clean that up with the CLEAN UP button at the bottom of SHARES - User Shares.

Your media and plex shares (if that is their names) are on disk1. You should be able to browse them in the Unraid webUI by clicking the boxed arrow icon to the left of the share name. And you should be able to access them on the network, according to their settings.

I never "map drives" in Windows. You can browse network files without that complication. But if that's the way you want to do it.

What "drive" exactly did you map? Normally, the individual disks and pools (cache) are not accessible on the network (for good reason), and I recommend not accessing individual disks or pools from the network.

Instead, you would create User Shares from the Unraid webUI, and access those user shares on the network. Did you create those user shares I mentioned above using the Unraid webUI? Did you map drives to each of those user shares?

How? From Windows, or from the Unraid webUI? And what exactly do you mean by 'it'?
