June 19, 20251 yr I've read a lot and watched some videos. Not finding a clear use case.Basically, I want to use my 1TB cache to speed up the copy process of going from my external usb drive to my new drive in my UnRaid server. Easy enough to setup, but I am missing some detail. A person wrote this below which I thought I understood. I created a share on the cache drive with the same name, as my shared folder TV Shows Volume 3. But it would not take since I realize it is the same name. "If i understand correctly, for shares that are cache-enabled, there is a folder on the cache drive with the same name as the share, and mover then moves from the cache folder (for example 'Movies') to the share ('Movies')?"I thought I could create a cache share, then use the mover to move the files to the array in a specific folder. There appears to be no option to tell the cache which folder I want the files moved to. Just the entire disk.Best I have come up with so far is to create a cache share called Transfer, and then move the files from it to the folder TV Shows Volume 3. I was hoping for something for specific and automatic? Is it not possible to have the cache drive be shared and move those files to a specific folder on the array?
June 19, 20251 yr Community Expert Primary: cache, secondary: array will have your cache drive catch new files and folders for that share and move them to the array at the time mover is scheduled to run, the share folder name doesn't change. If you want more granular control, then mover is not going to work for you in that way.
June 19, 20251 yr Author Maybe I understand this.So I do not create a share on the array like TV Shows Volume 3? Just create a share on the cache called TV Shows Volume 3 and the Mover will move the files to an unshared folder called TV Shows Volume 3 on the array as scheduled? So I would not access the folder called TV Shows Volume 3 on the array directly?

The share doesn't change, and you don't have multiple copies or multiple folders called "TV Shows Volume 3", you just have the share. You can access all of the files and folders in that share, and where it lives either on the cache or the array doesn't matter - it will be served to you as if they're all in the same place.
