My Unraid went unresponsive, my VM's are working and I can SSH into the server.

This happened before, I SSH into server and had to perform a forced reboot.

Now the same has happaned and I can get to the login (on http) only but it;s asking me to set the root password.

Therefore two questions;

1) Thoughts on what to do / check?

2) What can I do before I reboot to capture anything of use (or shall I just do diagnostics)?

That suggests a flash drive issue, try recreating the flash drive, first backup the current one, then recreate it using the USB tool, then restore only the /config folder from the backup overwriting any existing files.
