Random Unraid Crashes – No Clear Errors in Syslog

Featured Replies

Over the past six months or more, I’ve been experiencing random crashes on my Unraid system. These occur sporadically—sometimes every few days, other times weeks apart. I usually notice the issue when I can no longer access the web GUI. Upon checking the system directly, the video output shows a blank black screen.

I haven’t found any clear indicators or errors in the syslog that point to the cause of the crashes. However, I’ve observed that they often happen while emhttpd is running.

Troubleshooting So Far:

  • Upgraded RAM: Switched from 2×16GB DDR4 to 2×32GB unbuffered ECC DDR4. Both passed Memtest.

  • Upgraded BIOS

  • BIOS setting: Advanced > AMD CBS > Power Supply Idle Control and set it to "Typical Current Idle"

  • Replaced the flash drive.

  • Addressed minor errors found in the logs.

Has anyone experienced similar issues or have any suggestions on further steps I could take to diagnose or resolve this?
