apcupsd not restarting

Featured Replies

I installed apcupsd and clean powerdown packages, and have "Will be automatically Re-Installed upon Re-Boot" for both. I did a couple of reboots and they did reinstall. Then I pulled the plug on the UPS to test if it would shut down, and it did as it was suppose to. Then when I pluged the UPS back in and powered up the server again it did not reinstall apcupsd, but clean power down did. Any idea why this would be?

I can verify that this works with a Cyber Power CP1350PFCLD UPS.

no.    But what makes you think it is not re-instsalled?

What happens when you type:

which apcupsd

and

ls -l /boot/packages/*apcupsd*

Acording to the UnMenu Package Manager it was downloaded but not installed after repowered from a auto shutdown.

Also the Sys Info tab of UnMenu doesn't let me check the status of the UPS

Did you even bother to try to answer the two questions I specifically asked in my prior post?

Either it is not installed through unMENU, or you probably have an issue in how you've edited your config/go script.

Assuming you installed it from unMENU, the last line in the config/go file (or one of the last lines) should look like this:

cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c

If you installed using a 5.X plugin, then you'll need to report the issue to the plugin author.

If you wish ANY more help from me, answer my questions...  >:(

(it is not like I'm asking you for information that is that hard to get)

Sorry I didn't mean to poop in your corn flakes.  :-\

But I am at work and don't have physical access to the server right now to try and force a shut down with the UPS to see if it happens again. I reinstalled it with UnMenu last night after if failed to do so automaticly.

I used UnMenu to install the package and have not made any changes to any config from what it did. I am on UnRaid 4.7

This is what the commands give me, but I was assuming that you wanted me to do it when UnMenu says that it isn't intalled, I can't do that from here.

root@Server:~# which apcupsd

/sbin/apcupsd

root@Server:~# Is -I /boot/packages/*apcupsd*

-bash: Is: command not found

root@Server:~# ls -l /boot/packages/*apcupsd*

There is an .auto_install file there AND the executable file /sbin/apcupsd exists.  Therefore, it was re-installed.

/boot/packages/apcupsd-3.14.3-i486-1kjz.tgz.auto_install

I'm guessing you re-installed yesterday, as the auto_install file has a date of: 2106 May 16 20:29

If you had simply said, I'll check it out when I get home, I would have understood.  Your initial response seemed to me as if you were just ignoring my request for info I could use to figure out what is wrong.

There is a third possibility... that apcupsd did start, but somehow aborted.  Since you did not supply a syslog, I could not check it for clues.

You to (unpaid) mechanic (over the phone):  Car don't work right.  What part do I need to replace?

Mechanic to You?  What make/model/symptoms?

You  "I think it is blue."  It is the same make as my brothers, except his is a different model.

;D ;D ;D

I will do some better testing over the week end to see what I can come up with. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a know issue before I spent alot of time trying to figure it out.

not a known issue at all.  I've been running apcupsd in all the 5.X versions in one of my servers, although I'll admit I've not gone through a power outage on each version.

It was very solid on unRAID 4.7 as well for me.

OK I figured out where I went wrong, or missed any way. I enabled it to reinstall on re-boot, then I made some changes to the configuration variables. I did not notice that every time you change the variables you have to reenable the auto reinstall.
