July 27, 2025Jul 27 I have two Unraid servers both of which have two Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 controllers (Marvell based). I’ve had these servers running for many years never seeing any issues with the controllers. While I would not buy a Marvell controller for a new server I’m left wondering if there is any reason to replace the ones I already have that seem to be working fine.It looks like the 9400-16i is available on EBay for about $100 which is not a lot but I see no sense in spending it if there is nothing gained by doing so. Is there any reason to do so if I’m not having issues with the current cards? Will these 9400’s perform any better/faster?
July 27, 2025Jul 27 IMO, if it works it works. It's just known that these can cause issues, so IF you get issues then they might be a prime target for the cause.
