May 12, 200818 yr Hey I am running an ABIT AB9 Pro (Bios 17) and it isn't showing me any drives in the devices menu, but on boot it shows them on the SATA screen. I thought this board was supported? EDIT: version: 4.2.4
May 12, 200818 yr Author Ok I have updated to the latest version of Unraid, but it seems to hang on boot. Is their any motherboard specific settings this board needs to function properly with Unraid? I just don't want to flash the BIOS if I don't have to is all.

I just don't want to flash the BIOS if I don't have to is all. Just do the BIOS update. You will not regret it. 1 month ago i did the same as you and tried to get the newest beta version to boot and it would not at all with the factory shipped bios.. Messed with it for a week. Finally did the bios update and it booted immediately.
May 13, 200818 yr Author I did the BIOS update and its still hanging. Does anyone know if any special settings need to be changed in the BIOS? Or can list what should be changed from stock standard?
May 13, 200818 yr This is a hardware issue, The kernel has not even gotten to run yet. From the looks of it, it just barely loaded and may be on the decompress step. (or right before it). List your hardware and memory.. Make sure your memory is in the right slots. Worst case, go into the uguru selection in your bios set the memory manually to 266 and see if that helps. What kind of usb flash key are you using?
May 13, 200818 yr I did the BIOS update and its still hanging. Does anyone know if any special settings need to be changed in the BIOS? Or can list what should be changed from stock standard? One quick question... Did your motherboard boot unRAID prior to flashing to the newer bios? It might be as simple as the bzroot file being corrupt on the flash drive. Everything else looks great. You might put the flash drive in the PC and re-copy bzroot to it. Then, make sure you use the PC toolbar to "safely eject" the flash drive and try again. There are also some options you can add to the syslniux.cfg file... those are needed on some motherboards to boot, example here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1767.msg12356#msg12356 Try a fresh copy of bzroot first. May 13, 200818 yr Author I did and the same problem, but after searching for a bit I changed something to AHCI. Now works fine, thanks everyone! What does that AHCI thing do?
May 13, 200818 yr your SATA controller was probably set in RAID mode... AHCI or IDE should work fine... AHCI, if it works, is preferred.... it's an advanced method of controlling the drives (VERY simplified)
May 20, 200818 yr Since we're on the topic of bios flashing... I have a small problem/question about flashing the bios on my AB9 Pro. I downloaded the latest stable version (bios v22) and read the readme file that came with it. It states: ********************************* NOTE ********************************* 1. How to upgrade BIOS: a. Create a MS-DOS startup disk. b. Extract all files in the operation system. c. Copy the files to startup disk. d. Boot into MS-DOS. e. Run "runme.bat" *** Please notice that we suggest you flashing the bios with switches by "runme.bat". 2. For more detail, please visit: http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/download/guide.php ============================================================================ I understand the instructions fine (I think). However, if you create a MS-DOS startup disk 555 KBytes of files are copied over to the disk. This creates a problem as the extracted m516a22 folder (v22 bios files) contains 1.05 MBytes of data. If you copy those files over to the MS-DOS startup disk it runs out of space. What should I do? Use multiple floppy disks, use a USB stick instead of a floppy disk? Am I going about flashing the bios wrong?
May 20, 200818 yr I think I deleted some of the files on the diskette. I can't remember which. I think it might have been the drivespace.bin or something like that.
May 20, 200818 yr I have no personal experience with the motherboard. Some motherboards allow you to put a BIOS file onto a USB drive and load it directly from a BIOS menu. However, if you need to apply your BIOS from DOS, you can do the following. Put your BIOS file and BIOS programs onto a separate floppy. Once your computer is booted into DOS, remove the boot disk from the A: drive and insert your BIOS disk. You can then run your BIOS update program. (Another option is to delete a bunch of the files copied to your DOS boot disk, which will likely leave room for your BIOS file and BIOS programs. The only files you really need are the two hidden/system files and COMMAND.COM. But it is probably easier just to copy your BIOS files to another disk.) After it is done you will need to reboot. Remember to go into the BIOS and load defaults. This is a step that is sometimes forgotten. It is a good idea as the BIOS options from one BIOS version to another can vary, and the saved BIOS settings may not load correctly and create some very hard to diagnose problems! After loading defaults, set your BIOS options as desired (e.g., AHCI), save changes, and you will be good to go. Good luck!
May 20, 200818 yr I have several usb thumb drives formatted with the HP utility and are bootable to dos. They come in VERY handy at times like this... Jim
May 21, 200818 yr Thanks guys, I ended up doing what Jim suggested and created a bootable USB stick. It worked perfectly. I think my old crt monitor is broken though... the bios is pink?
May 21, 200818 yr No it is ODD COLORS! I was not very pleased when I first saw it.. I wanted out of there as soon as possible! LOL!!!
May 22, 200818 yr Oh, lol. Well that's good news then I suppose. I don't like the color either. What happened to good ole' blue?
