Hi,

When I'm restarting unraid, I'm unable to reach my UI. I can login via SSH, and have been troubleshooting. Both nginx and php don't start. Once I start both, my php log shows the following:

[17-Aug-2025 02:30:41 America/New_York] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: date(): Argument #2 ($timestamp) must be of type ?int, string given in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php:54

Stack trace:

#0 /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php(54): date('Ymd', '')

#1 {main}

thrown in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php on line 54

I went through a few different troublshooting steps including deleting my network.cfg in case that was malformed, uninstalling plugins, and even booting in safemode. All 3 did not resolve this.

I don't entirely know now what to do. This started with an update to 7.1.4, and I downgraded back to my last stable version of 7.0.1 using the manual downgrade instructions, and same exact issue. if I comment out the error line, UI loads but it's totally un-usable.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Nothing obvious on the diags that I can see, you can try redoing the flash drive, backup the current one first and then recreate it using the USB tool and just restore the bare minimum, like the key, super.dat and the pools folder for the assignments, also copy the docker user templates folder (\config\plugins\dockerMan\templates-user), if all works you can then reconfigure the server or try restoring a few config files at a time from the backup to see if you can find the culprit.

Okay, super odd. just did a backup from a flash zip that I know works, but still doesn't boot correctly. Same exact error.

I haven't rebooted the system in months so this backup while only a few days old from a working state, doesn't seem to be in a bootable state.

I'll try a clean OS flash, and do it like you said, restoring a few files at a time.

Alright, so tried it with just the few files you suggested. Surprisngly still running into that same error... Can't imagine what this could be. I'll try doing a fresh install on a new USB.

Will keep this thread updated when I find out what's happening.

Thanks!

I tried an empty drive. It booted fine for the first boot, but then re-starting the system I kept on getting random library not found errors... I think my hardware might be going bad? libproc2.so not foundand network-config never gets created, so eth0/eth1 are not found and I don't get an IP. even manually restoring network-config to provide my adaptors doesn't work. I'm gonna try a new USB tomorrow, but that's about the end of troublshooting and now I'm going to purchase some replacements.

Unless anyone has other ideas?

That's a possibility.

Okay, 100% not the problem. I just built a new system, and it's running into the same exact problems. I get an IP, go to the IP, doesn't work. start both nginx and php, and then get the set password screen (fresh install on 7.1.4). I type in a password and the page just stays loading, and eventually times out.

This is so odd! I wonder what is happening here... I tried making the boot device on both a mac and windows, as well as making it manually on both. Also got a new 32gb usb2 flash drive. Same exact issues. What the heck.

Alright, progress.

Seems to be a bad GPU... that's the only thing I kept from the previous build, and unraid doesn't seem to like it.

I figured it out by restoring an old 6.12 backup, and that got hung up during booting. Googeled that error (getting stuck at something that started with Triggering .....) and the post talked about how they had to replace their pci-e sata card. Got me thinking. Weird error, let's try booting without anything but my LSI attached. Removed both GPUs and my 2.5g nic, everything booted up on the fresh unraid 6 stick. Booted up on the 7.0.1 backup, and....

Everything's broken again! same issue as before....

For now I just swapped back to 6.12.15 and Its smooth, restored my pools, and now just need to restore my dockers and compose files. =/

Really would like some input from an Admin/Dev about this weird situation.

Does it happen with a stock v7.x install without the GPU?

  • Author

Yes, Tried stock v7, and the same non-responsive page, nginx and php were not starting.

Actually just swapped back to my old system and it's working perfectly fine on v6.12.15... so odd!

Looks like I'm staying on there for a long time. Happy to help debug and provide more info for this if needed by the devs.

You can post the diagnostics from a stock v7.1.4 or 7.2.0-beta.2 install to see if there's anything there.
