FYI, Some PCIe USB findings

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Thought I'd share some experiences thus far on trying to passthrough a PCIe USB controller to a W11 VM.

Context: Was trying to get USB audio devices (Razer Blackshark V3 Pro) to play properly without stuttering. tl;dr this is a known issue with some VMs, where USB-based audio stutters b/c of incompatibilities in the system. The general solution is to pass-through an entire USB controller.

Problem: Z690 Mobo, 12600K, only has one USB controller for all ports and can't pass that through.

Solution: FebSmart Renesas UDP720201-based PCIe controller card, which got my Blackshark to register completely (including Synapse) as well as my USB BT dongle.

Also tried: Yeelink ASM3142**-based PCIe controller card.

**Caveat: It's possible that the ASM3142-based card did not work b/c I have a ASM-based SATA controller on the motherboard as well.

Failed: Highpoint RU1144D which would load the BT dongle and Blackshark but not completely. In particular, the Blackshark would show up in Windows but not in Synapse, so I couldn't adjust its EQ. The dongle also appeared but wouldn't pair to some devices. I had hoped this one would work b/c it has 4 separate USB controllers, meaning you could assign them to multiple VMs if you wished

Other people have recommended FL1100-based cards, e.g. the updated Yeelink one or the Inateck

Thanks for these comments, it kind of helped me because vantec dual controller already disappointed me.
