September 10, 2025Sep 10 Walmart has a pack of 3 or 4 PNY 16GB USB 2.0 flash drives. I realized today I do not have backup flash drive (backup of the drive I do).Any know if these will work and if not, what is a recommendation you can actually still buy today?https://www.walmart.com/ip/PNY-16GB-Attach-USB-2-0-Flash-Drive-3-Pack-Light-Weight-Durable-Storage-Device-for-Data/800761044?classType=VARIANT&athbdg=L1600&from=/search
September 10, 2025Sep 10 PNY is an old supplier of flash drives. They have had a GUID in the past. I seen that they are being sold and shipped by Walmart. (When ordering online, always check who is the actual merchant as many large online sales organization will provide warehousing and shipping for small merchants!) Walmart is therefore responsible for insuring the product is not a counterfeit item and the ad for this product indicates that it has free 30 day returns. Just check within that window that it has a GUID on it.
September 11, 2025Sep 11 PS-- If you do purchase these PNY flash drives from Walmart, please sure to post back whether they have unique GUIDs. Folks are always on the outlook for USB2 flash drives that are 32GB or less. They have become very difficult to find.
September 11, 2025Sep 11 Author Good News, I believe. I ended up getting the same thing almost at Best Buy. Instead of the 16gb for three at Walmart, I opted for the 32gb at Best Buy. Both are 2.0 USB. Further, I used the Unraid USB Creator and it sees a GUID. I stopped at this point.Spec is PNY USB 2.0 Flash Drive Attache 4 with 32GB. I paid $12.99 for three. Now should I let the USB Creator do its process even though I am not in need of switching out the old one.Again, I just wanted to have some acceptable flash drives in the event of a failure.

(There have been a few cases where flash drives have a GUID but every drive has the same GUID. What happens in this case is that the first one assigned by Unraid to a license purchaser is valid but any attempt to register an subsequent drive with this GUID will result in a Blacklisting.)
September 11, 2025Sep 11 Author Yes, I just ran the Unraid utility on all three. Each had a different GUID. Similiar, but not the same for sure!
