XFS overhead

Featured Replies

In the process of migrating from XFS V4 to V5 and noticed the amount of space used on a newly formatted drive. 12 TB drive 230GB? Is this normal? Seems like a lot to the uninformed like me. Can that be reduced or is it a "just live with it" kind of thing. Not very knowledgeable about these things, so thought I'd ask. Thanks.

That sounds about right for the default with the latest versions of XFS. It is possible to reduce this if one manually reformats the drive without reflink support if it really bothers you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm good with it if that's normal. Just wondered if I screwed something up. That's a lot of movies I can be saving! :)
