October 15, 2025Oct 15 Hello All,Total novice and looking for some simple advice. My current device has: x4 8TB HDD (mechanical) set up in ZFS+1 (Array Space)But I have now added: x2 2 TB NVME's in BTRFS (Mirrored) (Array Safe Cache)x1 1TB NVME in BTRFS (no redunancy) (Array Unsafe Cache)I'd like to set these SSD pools up in an efficient way, I was thinking of utilising the Safe Cache for App Data and the Unsafe Cache for Torrents and a VM... Question is, is this a good idea and how do I set it up? Any help greatly appreciated!
October 16, 2025Oct 16 Community Expert zfs doesnt' work corectly if its setup as a d1 array device... that sounds sound adn is a configuration i have done and tested in the past.zfs should be in the pool section not unraid d1, d2 , parity array. since using zfs please review:https://forums.unraid.net/topic/177887-os-70beta4-best-practice-storagediskcache-configuration/#findComment-1478045 Honestly with your setup I would go unraid 7.1.4 no arraypool setups only1x 1TB Pool scratch disk btrfs (used for VMS)...2x 2TB Pool Cache Disk btrfs (used for docker app data)4x 8 TB zfs raid z1 spingin disk for deep stoarge or large library format...
