Unclean shutdowns

Hi all i previously made a post about unclean shutdowns happening at random times (normally happens after a few weeks of uptime) im still encountering this frequently still the tests i have carried out is: changing the PSU to a known good one, running memtest (3 passes), swapping the ram out entirely, updating unraid OS, downgrading the OS, ive checked all my containers running and VMs and there doesn't seem like an issue is present. The only items Ive never swapped out is my motherboard and CPU.

Ive also switched fast boot off and XMP in the bios too.

I forgot to mention when it does do a unclean shutdown it always restarts which is what is confusing me as id have thought it would stay off if it was something serious.

Im at a loss on what to do next I've also setup a syslog server on unraid and pointed it to my firewall but i get no useful info to point towards a cause just a gap between it crashing and it rebooting. I have other equipment running from the same power source too that has never had any problems so i doubt its bad AC, if anyone could look over my diagnostics id really appreciate it.

Server rebooting by itself is almost always a hardware issue, memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, since you have multiple RAM sticks, try using the server with just one, if the same try with the other one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.

It could also be the Intel 13/14 gen issue, though typically the K models are more affected by that, it's still worth looking for a bios update, it can sometimes help with those issues if the CPU is not too far gone.

Thanks for the reply i have tested both dimms separately and i have also tested another kit of ram i had, my cpu is a i7 12700 which id have hoped would have been better than a 13/14 gen for stability. im not sure if a bios update would help my situation but it is not something i have tried yet so i shall give that a go thanks

This suggests that the system may be crashing rather than trying to shutdown and it being unable to stop the array (thus leading to an unclean shutdown). In term of it restarting you should check that you do not have the BIOS set to automatically start the server if power is present.

Oh yeah, my bad, in tah case, RAM, board or PSU would be the main suspects, though it's not impossible that the CPU could still have issues.

i can only see it being the board or cpu at this point which is quite annoying as ive replaced everything else previously
