VM Won't start :(

Featured Replies

Every time I start my VM, it just stops. I've rebooted and I noticed that the ssd it is on says it is full, but I know that it actually isn't full, maybe 60% full?

I'm guessing it's something stupid I missed, but any help would be appreciated )

Does it stop or pause? If it pauses, this is typically because the underlying storage is full. Note that VM disks are thin provisioned.

Yes it pauses, and when looking at the disk in unraids webgui, it shows its full, but I know in the VM the disk is maybe 60% full, so not sure why the disconnect.

i also know this because i was in the vm, checked the storage capacity after moving some files around, and rebooted the vm. it was upon the reboot that i started getting the pause (

so is there a way to rollback or expand the storage to allow me to even get into the VM?

The VM disk file is a sparse file. I will grow as the VM consumes storage. The real file size on the disk will not be the full 60Gb of the VM disk until it is used. So if the physical under-lying storage has no space then the disk cannot expand and will cause the VM to pause. If you open the VM storage view it will show allocated space.
