November 17, 2025Nov 17 Hey all,I have been having issues with my server going unresponsive...I am unable to SSH in or access the GUI - but the unit is pingable. If I hit the power button, I hear the drives shut down and the box shuts down cleanly. And I am able to bring it back up without issue. I have the syslog mirrored to the flash drive to capture it. I am attaching my logs for review.hades-diagnostics-20251117-1038.zip Edited November 19, 2025Nov 19 by habitual-stimulation2689
November 17, 2025Nov 17 Community Expert I'm afraid there's not much logged:Nov 17 03:40:03 Hades move: mover: started Nov 17 03:40:03 Hades move: mover: finished Nov 17 05:40:13 Hades kernel: usb 1-2: USB disconnect, device number 2 Nov 17 05:40:14 Hades kernel: usb 1-2: new full-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd Nov 17 05:40:14 Hades kernel: input: MSI MYSTIC LIGHT as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0/0003:1462:7D09.0002/input/input6 Nov 17 05:40:14 Hades kernel: hid-generic 0003:1462:7D09.0002: input,hiddev96,hidraw0: USB HID v1.10 Device [MSI MYSTIC LIGHT ] on usb-0000:00:14.0-2/input0 Nov 17 07:17:06 Hades webgui: Successful login user root from 192.168.45.199 Nov 17 09:12:12 Hades shutdown[1782481]: shutting down for system haltThe only thing out of the ordinary is the MSI RGB disconnecting in the middle of the night, I would think that's not a reason to crash the server, but post a new syslog after the next crash for comparison.
November 17, 2025Nov 17 Author I actually have the last few saved to my flash drive. Ill upload them. Could this be a NIC issue? I wouldnt think so as I can still ping it. I dont think its locked up either as I hit the power button one time and it cleanly shuts down. hades-diagnostics-20251115_0430.zip
November 17, 2025Nov 17 Community Expert Assuming that syslog-previous also covers a crash, the same issue is not logged, nor nothing else relevant that I can see. Since the server still shuts down, it appears to be a software issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all Docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it doesn't crash like that, start turning on the other services one by one, including the individual docker containers.
November 19, 2025Nov 19 Author Attaching the latest logs. I was home when it went offline (Watching a movie on Plex) - Sadly, disabling the docker/services would make the unit useless for us. We utilize the dockers for our Plex container. hades-diagnostics-20251118-1137.zip
November 19, 2025Nov 19 Community Expert Assuming the syslog-previous covers another event, I'm afraid there's still nothing relevant logged that I can see.
November 19, 2025Nov 19 Author Solution I think I found the culprit:Looks like my DHCP is having issues. I put in a new firewall and confirmed I was able to connect right to it (Using the new DHCP lease) without rebooting the server. This was not an unraid issue but a firewall issue.Closing this out!
