December 10, 2025Dec 10 At some point in the past I setup a 2 disk cache pool and then later removed one of the disks leaving a 1 disk cache pool. My OCD tells me that 1 disk doesn’t make a pool and I need to remove the pool without losing data on the cache drive. Is this possible? How?Or maybe I need to ignore my OCD.😁brunnhilde-diagnostics-20251209-2120.zip Edited December 10, 2025Dec 10 by wgstarks Added diagnostics.

In Unraid, you can create one or more pools outside the array, and each pool can have one or more disks. Cache is simply a pool named "cache".Since your pool named "cache" is XFS, it must be a single disk pool. btrfs and zfs allow multidisk pools.
December 10, 2025Dec 10 Author So Unraid no longer supports caching outside of pools?Or maybe it’s an “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” situation and removing the pool won’t really change anything?

Unraid allows you to create other pools, and doesn't require you to have a pool named cache. Any pool can be used to cache user share writes. Each user share has settings that control which pool(s) it will use and how.
