Disk read errors

Featured Replies

I got some problems with my unraid system. Read errors and now a disabled disk. I first thought it was just the backplane but I connected the disks directly now. But the problem is still there. Also read access when it works is not at a stable speed but fluctuates a lot and goes as low as 1-2 MB/s.

From what I can see the drives are fine. But it might be a motherboard problem.?

Would be great if someone with more experience czinzserver-smart-20260227-1353.zipzinzserver-diagnostics-20260227-1334.zipzinzserver-smart-20260227-1356.zipzinzserver-smart-20260227-1728(1).zipzinzserver-smart-20260227-1728.zipan take a look.

Most errors are logged as disk errors, and SMART doesn't look great for all. Run an extended SMART test on all disks and post new diags, SMART reports come included, so no need to post them separately.

You can do the extended tests on all disks at the same time. 4TB will take several hours, and progress only updates every 10% so don't think it isn't working if it doesn't change for a while.

Also note that disabled/emulated disk1 is unmountable, so it will need to have its filesystem repaired before any rebuild attempt.

Don't do anything without further advice.

This is probably a case where the user needed to be told to add SMART attributes 1 and 200 for monitoring on all their WD disks.

Possibly problems with other disks are preventing disk1 from being accurately emulated.

They all passed the test, which is good, but those disks don't look good at all, and likely there will be more read errors soon.

Disk1 was still not mounting in the diags, or was the filesystem check run after that?
