Access SMB Shares via Tailscale Address

Featured Replies

I have a strange one. When I am not home, I am unable to access my SMB Shares on my Unraid system via the Tailscale IP or FQDN. I can access them if I use the local IP Address (using routes over Tailscale) or if I am on the same network as the Unraid system.

When trying to access the server (using files in Gnome), I get an error that the connection is refused.

Update:

It now appears to be local as well. I can get into the smb shares via the Local IP but not any of my tailscale addresses. Every other service works fine, except SMB Shares

Add some more fuel to this fire, I shut the array down and restarted it, everything started working again. I would think a regular reboot would resolve this but I guess not???

Let me ask you if you are accessing these shares using a 'Share Access User' and Windows credentials (if you are using Windows)? Public/Guest access to SMB shares is being more and more problematical these days with increased security concerns.

Maybe you need to disable SMB sign in gpedit.msc on ur PC
