ZFS Pools in Main Tab don't reflect current pool state

Featured Replies

Hello all, I have an interesting problem that may or may not be self created. First I needed to replace a failed disk in my ZFS pool, I don't use the native array just my own pools with special vdevs and occasionally slog as well. This was a spinning rust disk in on a raidz2 vdev the pool is 24 disks with 3 vdevs. The disk since then has reported as wrong and or new but the zpool status output works fine.

I recently removed the SLOG from speedysas and made it the special for tvsata to improve metadata lookup for my TV pool. The pool is fine, it imports fine, but the UI says it's unmountable but clearly showing stats. Any idea how to get the UI back in sync with the actual pool configuration? I of course made all changes via cli so that's likely why the UI is out of sync. I attached my logs as well. I thank you in advance for helping me figure out this issue.

If the GUI is not showing the correct pool info, it suggests you did things using the CLI, so the GUI won't know.

You should be able to fix that by reimporting the pool(s), any pool that is imported but showing unmountable on the GUI will need to be exported manually with zpool export pool_name, then stop the array, then for each pool that is not showing correctly

on main click on the first device for that pool and then "remove pool"

back on main, create a new pool with the same name and correct number of slots, don't create any subpools, just assign all the devices together, including subpools

assign the pool device(s), leave the filesystem set to auto

start the array to import the pool

Thank you so very much for the assistance. Yes I did things via cli. I have a couple of questions for clarity. I assume I need to keep my disks in the same order as they are now? Meaning when I go to reassign them whatever serial is in slot 1 needs to be that way on the new pool? Also since my special devices are smaller will it complain about mismatched size? And finally for layout since I’m making the pool auto FS type I assume the correct layout will be visible in the GUI? Meaning my special vdevs will be aligned properly?

In addition and I failed to mention earlier, sincere apologies, running emcmd cmdPoolList caused the pool to drop from import state while still being fully importable via zpool commands.

The order is not important; Unraid will sort all the disks order and subpools during import, the important thing is that all pool members (including subpools) must be assigned.

As long as they are part of the pool, it doesn't matter.

Yes.

And don't forget that the pools must be exported before array start, or they will fail to import.

That worked like a charm. Thank you so very much for the assistance!

@JorgeB Thanks so much for this - I had to resliver a pool and then unraid got all messed up as the original drive was gone. Spent almost an hour with chatgpt telling me all the ways to fix this none of them worked. The steps above fixed me right up. THANK YOU!
