June 17Jun 17 Community Expert All storage devices count for licensing purposes, except a boot or licensing only flash drive, internal boot pool counts.
June 17Jun 17 Community Expert Worth pointing out that even unassigned devices count if they are attached to the server at the point the array is being started. Unassigned drives attached while array is already started do not count (although they would if you then reboot without removing them) so temporary drives used for purposes such as backups are OK.@DCCXVIII assuming the boot drive is a flash drive then in your case you would have 8 attached devices for licencing purposes.
