June 22, 201214 yr Just finally got my new build up and running, with all my data back on it. Everything is working great except for a few problems. First off is the transfer speed. On a computer connected through ethernet i was getting 33mb/s write speeds (that was with the parity drive off). And then the next day I went to transfer more from the same computer it dropped to 11mb/s (parity drive still off) and has been back up since. Any ideas? Even with read speeds (though ethernet) i am only seeing 9mb/s to 10mb/s. Another problem ive been having is streaming media. It usually works great but for some reason lately its been acting up. I stream media to a HTPC running XBMC, and a Patirot box office. Both connected with ethernet not wireless. Lately when playing a movie or tv show. It will randomly stop and I have to restart the video. It happens about every 7/8 minutes, a little bit irritating. Ive made sure nothing else was running on the unraid server, and nothing else was accessing it. And it still happened on my XBMC machine. I rebooted the router, and the unraid server and still doesn't help.
June 22, 201214 yr what are you system specs? What version of UnRaid are you running? also, post a syslog. It sounds like the NIC you are using is unstable with UnRaid (certain NICs with certain versions of UnRaid can have issues. Hence asking for specs, etc). Also sounds like it could be a network cable/network hardware issue.

Here's the syslog (download). you are connected at 100Mb/s. About the best you'll ever see across a 100Mb/s connection is 10 to 12 MB/s. Assuming the router is 1000Mb/s capable, suspect the cable between the two. Most routers are not 1000Mb/s, so that would explain the slower speeds unless you have an intermediate 1000Mb/s switch between your unRAID server and your router. (and the PC connects to the switch, not the router).
