Out of memory errors detected on your server

Featured Replies

As instructed, I'm posting here the error I received today when opening my Unraid dashboard.

Syslog report a huge number of failed NUT reconnection attempts, so I restarted the plugin, and those errors no longer show up in the diagnostics. Of course, I don't know whether this is related to the memory issue.

The diagnostics, downloaded right afterwards, are attached.

Thanks for support.

The diagnostics show that the server ran out of memory three times:

- September 23 at 06:10

- September 24 at 06:18 and 07:34

These are the times recorded in your server’s logs. Each time, Linux killed a Plex Transcoder process using roughly 10–11 GiB of your 16 GB RAM.

The NUT connection errors are still visible in the rotated logs, but its processes were using very little memory during these events. Restarting NUT restored its connection, but does not explain the large Plex memory usage.

Was Plex playing or processing anything at those times?

As an isolation test, temporarily stop the Plex container overnight and see whether any new out-of-memory events occur. If another event occurs, collect fresh diagnostics before restarting services.

Okay, now I need to figure out what's going on with Plex. The scheduled tasks are obviously involved, since they're set to start right before the crashes. I'll try to work out what's happening. You've been very helpful and kind, thank you.

It could be choking on a bad file while it does its media scan, if you have added new items check those first. The plex log might be helpful too as the last thing it was doing would be in there

That was exactly the problem, a corrupted episode. I've deleted it now and restarted Plex, let's see tomorrow morning if it happens again. Thanks!
