October 5Oct 5 Has anyone tried connecting a DAS to an unraid NAS? I have 100TB and I am starting to run out of storage. So looking at options to increase capacity. I see these DAS boxes that use a 10GB USB connection.I am curious on performance since parity would have to calculated across all the drives in that DAS.I assume this would be transparent to unraid. I.e. Unraid doesnt care if the drives come from a DAS. Edited October 5Oct 5 by xokia additional info

My USB-c SS port is USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port (20 Gbps).SAS is roughly the same BW. This PC is always on. What is it about USB that is not recommended? Edited October 20Oct 20 by xokia
October 20Oct 20 Community Expert USB devices have a tendency to drop offline; also, USB is bad at error handling in general. Having said that, it mostly depends on the USB controller and bridge used, and some can work mostly OK, it's just not recommended in general because a lot of them can cause issues.
