Wrong Pool State cache - too many wrong or missing devices

Featured Replies

Hi - I'm trying to reduce my pooled cache drives (500 GB SSD's) from 2 to 1, and use the 2nd drive for Tdarr. (I'm tired of having the cache fill up and crash my Dockers etc). But when I follow the unRaid instructions for removing a disk from the cache pool, I get this response when I try to re-enable the array - "Wrong Pool State

cache - too many wrong or missing devices" . Diagnostics attached

Your pool is using the single profile, so you cannot remove a device like that. You can click on the pool, balance it to raid1, then stop the array and remove one device.

Thanks Jorge, but I'm unable to format and mount the disks

Can you expand on what you mean? Is this after the balance?

I performed the balance, stopped the array, and removed one SSD drive (not physically). I was then unable to format and mount the disks

I just did a reboot and was able to format and mount them 😉

The problem was that at some point you mounted the second cache SSD with the Unassigned Devices plugin while it was still part of the pool. That mounted the whole cache filesystem under /mnt/disks, and it was still mounted there, so Unraid could not remove the device or format the pool, because the devices are in use. The reboot resolved the issue.
